AgroWaste Industry in Africa
Africa is sitting on a $20 billion annual market opportunity by unlocking its 500 million tons of agricultural waste. Currently, over 90% of this residue goes unused and is burned in fields—stripping vital soil nutrients and releasing 1.5 tons of CO₂ per ton burned. Unlocking this economic engine requires overcoming fragmented logistics, developing localized aggregation, and establishing international sustainability certifications. Doing so will build a traceable, high-value supply chain capable of powering the global circular economy. By deploying digital marketplaces and physical infrastructure, AfriSAF creates a viable mechanism to transform this agricultural residue. Ultimately, transforming this agricultural residue will directly benefit the continent and the world. It will boost rural economies while supplying the surging worldwide demand for bioenergy, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and clean-tech manufacturing inputs.
